Oh, dear. I'm a Twilight geek, but I've made myself wait to read this one because I haven't had the opportunity to read it all in one sitting (which I KNOW I'll want to do). Your reaction is making it harder to wait!!! I think that some part of me has been putting off the reading, too, because 1) I don't want "it" to end, and 2) I was afraid this book wouldn't measure up and I'd be disappointed.

(btw-I love my job, but I miss the middle-schoolers and sharing YA lit with them.)

I read through your sample wiki. Wow! You have really done a lot of work. It looks very useful to me and should save team members a lot of time. Sometimes it is hard to keep people on task when you meet face-to-face, and perhaps there are one or two people who want to hog the show. I am thinking that a wiki would be helpful in keeping the focus on the task at hand, people can access the information and read / add to it on their time schedule, and each person's ideas would be visible.

Thanks! I've really enjoyed this process, and have definitely caught the "blogging bug"! I think I will also be creating a Writing Ning today - no time like the present, right? I envision it as a place where teachers can share, blog, discuss, post lessons, etc. Watch for a link in the resources section!

Thanks for naming my play - I can't wait to tell my husband that I haven't gotten anything accomplished in our house because I'm "rehearsing". :) Actually, you are right. I am definitely a "processor" (as you probably already know). I'm meeting with Laurie and Sharon tomorrow to show them what I've learned so far. I think Sharon has already logged into the 6th grade wiki I made for that team, so hopefully she'll "catch the bug", and share it. We have a pretty technologically savvy campus, so I'm excited about the opportunities!

As for what I'm reading, I haven't picked up The Host yet. I've started on several series, one deals with faeries - the first is "Wicked Lovely" and the second is "Ink Exchange" (never thought I'd enjoy something about faeries, but the author has done quite a bit of research, and based it upon Celtic mythology - so lots of blood and violence), and the second is the Gemma Doyle series. I took a break from YA, and just finished Dean Koontz's "Odd Hours" (I'm in love with the main character, Odd).

You're not lazy;you're percolating! Your subconscious is preparing for a good deal of mental work and problem solving. It's rehearsing what will need to be done so you can do it easier later. Don't worry, I percolate a lot when I have to write, that's why it take me so long to do these posts! What is this stuff about being "golden"? Are you reading Host or something?

Thanks, vwb - you're right. BUT - it's not a powerpoint file - I just created the pictures using Powerpoint, and then saved them as .jpeg files in My Photos, then loaded them into Photostory, which I assumed would translate just fine, once I saved it as a Photostory file. I assumed wrong!
